![]() RDL told me in a PM that DIS might be a good idea to add, which is in the Quick99si installation hierarchy - so that might be my next move (there is so much of this confusing software it's not funny). Windows XP - Vista (these seem to be the FTDI cable drivers) Windows 7 - 8 - 10 (these seem to be the FTDI cable drivers) This is what the Easy BMW Tools contained: "Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." It also installed NCSDummy, NCS Expert, Tool32, and WinKFP, but I haven't used them other to verify they come up when I doubleclick on them.īut I tested all the icons that Mikes Easy BMW Tools installed, where the only thing that did not work is BMW Coding Tool, which comes up with an error: That installed INPA & EDIABAS (which is all you really need - where EDIABAS seems to be the required underlying software that makes everything else work). I clicked on that file and up came "Mikes Easy BMW Tools" installation. In that directory is a file called 'setup.exe".Ĭ. Unzipping that created a directory called EasyBMWTools_20170527.ī. The only thing I *used* was the EasyBMWTools_20170527.zip file (177,457 KB) from the BMW Coding Online site.Ī. So the answer to your question is that I don't think you need the BMW_DVD_20170122, which even the cable seller told me by email. The BMW_DVD_20170122 download link on the web site failed and the second one (which the cable seller provided to me) worked - but I never used it. If anyone can help me to get this up and running, I would be most grateful.Click to expand. This is a good question since I downloaded FAR MORE than I actually used. This has been very frustrating and I have researched this massively to no avail. Should I buy another K+DCAN cable and if so, does anyone know of a good supplier that***8217 s well priced? What about buying a VAG-COM cable and modify it according to this link: It has to have a FT232RL chip in it, correct? Or how about just buying a K-line cable? My only other conclusion is I have a bad cable. Where should it be and how do I go about creating one? Will this actually solve my problem? I have noticed other people in the forums have stated they don't have this file either. I have searched for this file in the folders and it's nowhere to be found. The only other thing I can think of is the ODB.INI file missing as I am unable to set it to COM1. Pin 8 is present and there is no solder between pins 7 & 8. Every time I configure the cable, the LED light goes off and I get the message: ***8220 Error, adapter not connected!!! Press Enter***8230 ***8221, so I don***8217 t know if it takes or not. I have ran the DCAN program to configure the cable every which way from 500 kbits D-CAN and PTCAN, 100 kbits K-CAN or CAN off. I have tried different FTDI drivers and tried different COM numbers, but I only get solid circles when it***8217 s set to COM1. Like I said, I get solid circles on INPA and the LED light lights up when I plug it into the OBD in my car (key in on position), but once I initiate a request, the light goes off and I get the aforementioned error message. It stated it was already configured to work with K-Line and CAN-bus BMWs. The K+DCAN cable I have is a cheap one from ebay. I don't recall seeing if the COM was listed. I don***8217 t have a OBD.INI file, but I did go into the registry and changed the serial I made sure it had the following: RxFIFO & TxFIFO with a DWORD, 32-bit, hexadecimal, and set to 8: 0x00000008. Using a virtual com port FTDI driver 2.08.30ĮDIABAS.INI configured to Interface = STB:OBD VMWare Fusion 7.0 installed on my macbook with Mavericks running Windows XP SP1 Home EditionĬonfigured USB serial port to the following: I have a K+DCAN cable and I get solid circles on both the battery and ignition, but when I try to do anything, I get the error message: ***8220 IFH-0003: DATATRANSMISSION TO INTERFACE DISTURBED***8221. I have been unable to get INPA to communicate with my ***8217 03 E39. I have posted this in bimmer forums in their Diagnostic Software discussions, but maybe someone here can help me out also.
